Twitter Layoffs are likely to continue in 2023 as well. Latest reports have stated that Elon Musk has sacked more employees, this time across various departments such as global content moderation team and the team which handles hate speech and harassment.
As per a report by Bloomberg, this new round of Twitter Layoffs took place in the Dublin and Singapore offices. Employees have also been laid off from the teams handling misinformation policy, global appeals state media and trust and safety.
As per an AFP report, the impacted employees include Nur Azhar Bin Ayob, the head of site integrity for Twitter’s Asia-Pacific region, a relatively recent hire; and Analuisa Dominguez, Twitter’s senior director of revenue policy.
Twitter Head of Trust and Safety, Ella Irwin also confirmed to AFP that several members of from the team have been fired. 'Twitter did eliminate roles in areas of the company that didn’t get enough “volume" to justify continued support," she stated.
However, Irwin further added that in order to compensate for the layoffs, Twitter has increased staffing in its appeals departments. The social media platform would also have a head of revenue policy and a head for trust and safety Asia Pacific Region.
After his $44 Billion acquisition of the 'bird app,' Musk proceeded to fire a little over 50 percent of Twitter's workforce including the top management. These Twitter layoffs also impacted India as it was reported almost 90 percent of Twitter India's staff was fired after Musk took over as CEO.
